On the current server the guards of these camps did not help each other at all; the next update has the camp guards and towers come to each other's aid, and the towers no longer drop out of the fight. A single hit on an outer guard still won't pull the whole camp: they stand in the game's own positions, slightly too far apart. Walking up to the camp gets the towers' attention, and they bring most of it. Live after the next server update.
