spells never hit you behind obstacle

if a monster channels a strong spell, which is not an aoe, you can easily dodge/prevent it and prevent heavy cc if you hide behind trees or walls. it can be abused very very easy.
For example shock which i can avoid if i just hide behind the obstacle and i get no dmg or no cc.
